    Samuel Fessenden (J – 13 March ) was an American attorney, abolitionist and politician. He served in both houses of the Massachusetts state legislature before Maine became a separate state. He was elected as major general in the state militia. Samuel C. Fessenden, a graduate of Bowdoin College, and a minister; Thomas A. D. Fessenden, a graduate of Bowdoin College, and an eminent member of the bar in Androscoggin county. Philip was lost at sea when ninetten years old. Oliver G. graduated from Dartmouth College, and practiced law in Portland, Maine.
